In order to strengthen collaboration in tourism, India and Japan agreed to sign a bilateral agreement. Visiting Japanese Senior vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Hiroshi Kajiyama along with the Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi were present here in a conference to put this pronouncement into result.
To draw Japanese tourists and businessman in large numbers, several procedures that were taken to develop golf and MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition) tourism in India were informed by the Minister to his Japanese counterpart. Chiranjeevi also invited Japan to empower in the low budget hotel division where India has eased up the FDI route. Budget hotels hold a good potential as they draw tourists coming to India from across the globe, Minister informed to his counterpart. The suggestion for this venture could be a part of the agreement between the two countries, Kajiyama said. Two Japanese airlines are operating daily flights between Japan and India which is a sign of huge tourists’ traffic between both countries, he informed. The Tourism of Japan is organizing a two day India-Japan Tourism Expo here from the 13th to 17th of January in 2014. It has already set an aim of magnetizing more than 10 million of visitors from across the globe to different parts of Japan.
