As the ‘Incredible India’ promotion features chief tourist destinations of India, very less effort were made to endorse the Indian food across the world. Taking into account about the situation, Culinary Tourism which provides an opportunity to experience variety of food specialities of the country opens up as a great potential at present, as said by the ace chef Manish Mehrotra.
He was addressing at the 48th yearly convention of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) on the topic of ‘Culinary Innovations: Recipe for Success’ here on Friday.
Focusing on the example of how pizza had become renowned across the world, he said that its popularity was purely due to the simplicity of the food.
Manish said, “The problem with Indian food is that we intentionally try to make it more complex. Actually the real beauty lies with the simplicity and how we present the food to the customers.

Speaking on the event, Sumesh of Paragon Group of hotels said that the chief purpose of the food is not only to fulfil the need of the stomach but also to influence the mind.
Nirav Gandhi, an expert in the field, also said that the durability of hotels and restaurants depended on exploration in various fields.
With his experience, Gandhi said, “E-menu and menu accessible in the tablets are the latest form of innovations in the current field. The customers are interested to go through the E-menu. By merging with the food portals the hotels can be able to attract more customers by offering discounts.”
Business Sessions
Six business sessions were held during the concluding day of the convention.
Speaking on the topic of ‘Future Technologies in Hospitality Industry’, Devdas Krishnan of Mobility Data Products stressed on including technology to assist the employees for adjustable working hours.
As the segment of the two day convention a demonstration of products and services in the hospitality sector was also held.
The exhibition had around 50 stalls involving, hotel clothes, sanitary, kitchen equipment, room management systems, and electronic equipment and pest control products.
