Hospitality and Tourism Sectors Complain Lack of Endorsement for Dasara
Mysore: While the state government and the district administrations have prepared themselves to turn out the festival of Dasara in a splendid manner. On the other hand the travel and hotel industry are claiming that they have been left in stagger as they are receiving mixed responses from the domestic and international tourists for the Nada Habba. It may be occurring because of the poor endorsement of Dasara at the national and international stage.
The previous year, the 10 day festival- Dasara, had experienced a poor response from the tourists because of the Cauvery agitation and drought in the state. As such, the festival could not attract domestic and international tourists in large numbers. This coming year, the tourism sector please refer…http://blog.globalvisiontours.com/, which was anticipating a bigger turn out in the number of tourists, is feeling let down.
The events during this festival and their endorsement are restricted in the Mysore reason only. The other major problem is the media publication about the event and its endorsements being limited to the local region, when the brand of Mysore Dasara is renowned across the world. The president of Mysore Hotel Owner’s Association, said, “The tourism department of the government must take things in their hand and to hold road-shows and related endorsements in the adjoining states and abroad.”
He also exposed that even when the event is just two weeks away there is no advance booking in the place for the festival session of Dasara. He lamented, “Whenever Cauvery issue is brought up in the floor, the focus is put on the hospitality industry. But this time around it is not the main issue, copious rain has erased the problem, thus there are no drawbacks. Yet, we are not getting a healthy response from the tourists.”
As the latest edition of Dasara is around the corner, the district administration has not finalized gold cards. “Infact, every day, we keep receiving fresh enquires about the domestic and overseas tourists about the gold cards,” said B S Prashanth, President of Mysore Travel Agents’ Association (MTAA).
He also exposed that overseas and domestic tourists plan their programme well before hand. On this matter, he asked, “Sadly, preparation for Dasara begins just a month before this festive season. In such cases how can we attract tourists, in such a short in period of time?”
Also that, other issues that is proving to be a hindrance in the travel industry is high inter-state road tax. He comments, “Even as the government has promised to relax inter-state vehicles with tax sops for the coming two weeks, it will not improve the situation.”

People of Kullu district, especially of the Manali area were against the construction of a ropeway to Rohtang Pass, as it would hamper the daily livelihood of the people, who are involved in the tourism activities. Not only the taxi operators were against this project, but Mahila Mandals and Yuvak Mandals of Manali tehsil too were against the project. After holding demonstrations in July this year, representatives from various organizations held meeting and later submitted report and memorandum to the chief minister to shift the project to other nearby sites of tourism importance.
The project was passed to take care of the tourism management in the area and the ecology depletion taking place due to the environment pollution at Rohtang pass due to heavy influx of vehicles. BMI’s India Tourism looks at Immense Possibility for Development
With a mushrooming domestic economy complementing boosts in inbound travel throughout the prediction period, BMI's India tourism report looks at the huge possibility for development presented by the tourism market.
We anticipate seeing a significant development across an array of market indicators like arrivals, departures, tourism receipts and number of hotels relying on India’s increasingly more wealthy middle class and its array of cultural and natural tourist magnetisms which make it famed tourist attractions for both investors and travelers.
In 2010, during the Common Wealth Games development was made regarding the various infrastructure including transportation and accommodation which is very important. The government is also centering on improving country’s rail and air networks.
From the financial and managerial problems in 2011 and 2012 caused by huge fluctuations in oil prices, the domestic air travel industry appears to be improving. With extension of domestic market along with the addition in the coverage of domestic airlines, BMI supposed to see an overall enlargement in air travel which is moving onward.
India… please refer… http://tourist-places.indiaholiday.org/ is also boarding on a determined programme of addition and increment to the country's rail network along with the country’s growth in air facilities. The potentiality of the rail network in the country is hindered by overcrowding and lack of sufficient amenities, in spite of India being one of the world’s largest in rail network.
If India is to keep its swiftness with the increasing demand, than the nonstop support of the government and investment meaning considerable developments.
Regional tensions are a jeopardy to India’s tourism market, while it itself profit from a usually steady democracy with an outstanding natural resources, huge resource pool and muscular global market links.
Inbound travel can also be greatly affected by safety concerns which remain awake including Mumbai hotel attacks in 2008 and a wave of high profile aggressive attacks on women in the past years including foreigners.
Hence, it is very crucial of the government to take some harsh actions against this type of violence which can heavily impact on every aspect of tourism and other related things. REFERENCE
